Nixie Clock- OH...MY...GOD!!

A new, hand made "Nixie Tube" clock. Nixie tube displays predate LED and LCD displays and have a real "space age" look about them. These were the "digital" display tubes that you used to see when watching the Apollo missions in the 60's. In fact some of these tubes were originally NASA ones! Inside a glass tube, ten filaments are shaped to form the digits 0 - 9 which when lit give off a warm orange / violet glow that can be read from quite a distance.

Height, including the tubes is 2.25" (58mm). The case is a very elegant, slim design, under 1 inch (23mm) tall, (no clunky metal box!) 7.25" (185mm) wide and 3.25" (90mm) deep. Fabricated in polished black acrylic "perspex, plexi-glass", the clock displays hours, minutes and seconds with a switch on the back to select 12 or 24 hour operation.

Time setting is easy with another two push switches. The nixie's are NEW OLD STOCK. The designer has a clock with the same tubes that has been running continuously for over 12 years showing no signs of ageing.

Accuracy is within a second or two per week controlled internally by a quartz crystal. For safety, the clock is powered by a low voltage plug in "wall wart" power supply. Taking orders for these now, the guy can probably only build another 9 like this because of the rarity of the tubes.
